10. THEN - John Young
John W. Young was the commander of Apollo 16. He led the fifth manned moon landing mission and explored the lunar highlands at Descartes, collected more moon rocks, and drove around in the lunar rover.

Following Young’s Apollo program, he went on to fly on two space shuttle missions in 1981 and 1983. Overall, Young logged around 835 hours in space and worked for NASA until 2004.
