Black Hornet Nano

British Army Drone - Black Hornet Nano Helicopter UAVThe Black Hornet Nano measures 10 by 2.5cm, small enough to fit in one hand and weights only 16 grams. This makes the Black Hornet Nano the small British Army Drone ever. This tiny UAV provides troops on the ground with local situational awareness through its 3 cameras.  Both still images and video are sent to a hand held terminal, this terminal can be used to control the device which has a battery of approximately 20 minutes.
Desert Hawk

Soldier Using Desert Hawk 3 a British Army DroneThe Desert Hawk is driven by a pusher quiet propeller and is used for local area reconnaissance and perimeter protection.  Equipped with 3 cameras it transmits real time video to a small laptop. Due to its lightweight design it is capable of rough landings without major damage.

There are currently at least 222 Desert Hawks, the largest collection of British Army drones with over 27,000 hours of combined service in Afghanistan alone.
The Watch keeper is an advanced UAV capable of surveillance, target acquisition and reconnaissance. It is operation in all weathers and able to take off and land automatically. The Watch Keeper can carry two payloads.

Approximately 30 are currently in service with an additional 24 ordered.
The Reaper is a medium altitude long endurance aircraft with a maximum altitude of 50,000ft and a top speed of 250kts. It has a wing span of approximately 20metres and a length of nearly 11 metres.

The Reaper was designed for intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance having the capability of ground attack added later. It is controlled by crews from Ground Control Stations.

TReaper Remotely Piloted Air System (RPAS) - British Air Force Donehe aircraft is fitted with two cameras on the nose and has an advanced secure satellite communications system. It is normally armed with 2 GBU-12 500lb laser guided bombs and 4 AGM-114 Hellfire missiles.
Each Reaper can be disassembled and loaded into a container for air deployment worldwide. There are currently 5 in service with 5 more on order.
The Reaper is the only drone controlled by the Royal Air Force, the rest of the vehicles displayed on this page are British Army Drones.
