Introduction to the Classification of Planets
What Is A Planet?
Is Pluto a planet? Could the Galilean moons be called planets? What about the astronomical bodies that orbit other stars, are they planets? These questions get asked often, and can spark polarizing debates among people trying to make sense of what little information the media offers.

People often have their own unique concepts of what a planet is and what one should look like. But these ideas do not necessarily line up with how Science defines a planet. In this video, we examine how the term "planet" is used by modern astronomers, and simplify the criteria used to determine what objects fall into the various planetary categories.
