Oukitel WP60
Prices can vary from varied retailers and specifications so, check the sellers description carefully before purchasing. Prices from £217 - £340 based on memory expansion and battery capacity. (2025 phone) It is best if the retailer orders it directly from Oukitel as you will find it comes complete and is authentic as these phones go - software can vary based on the batch - the Bumble Bee software bootup is mainly a promotional selling gimmick, rather than a legitimate theme boot up screen from what I can see. The phone is from China, so copyright may have something to do with this (in the West at least). Some software included may depend on their date of manufacture and what was available at the time for the phone, some Apps may be deleted, discontinued or non functioning based on software updates. This is and can be normal when purchasing a new mobile.
My Review It can be a learning curve for those coming from IOS (Apple) to Android, having to recharge within just one day as I have been doing for your old Apple iphone. The Android, on the other hand, recharging is after three to five days and more with standby on its 10,000mAh Li-Po battery. As Sim Cards go, really depends on your network service provider. If one is transferring a sim card from your old mobile with the same number, to the new phone, the sim itself will work as normal on the same network using your old number. (Note: However; you may want to update your sim card regardless, as price packages and benefits change over time as does 2G to 5G Bands criteria. Personally, as packages go, I prefer using; (as I have always done), 'pre-pay' as this system for me, is easier to control than the contracts and those with time limits. It is obvious some IOS Apps will not function on Android and vice-versa, that is the nature of the beast in terms of changing manufacturers and phones. If you like your music, like me, you may want to transfer your music files onto your new phone - To transfer Audio Music, one does need to have a music player app on your phone, this one does come with one; however; I found it was limited and sometimes these may not function at all, as I found with mine. You can't really blame the retailer, as Apps come and go. These apps can vary from designer or author and therefore one does need to research carefully as these can either be free, (usually with many ads) or cost you financially from around £1 to £10. Unfortunately, if free or cheap, many introduce malicious adware to your mobile causing the phone to malfunction. i.e. you may find unwanted multiple ads, that can cause cascades, freeze your phone or they introduce an ad-virus software, either way it is not good. Ask me how I know! I did have to use, within my settings (once I managed to get into it), to reset the phone (WP60) and I did managed to run the built-in Antivirus software to clean the phone, before switching off, waiting a minute before rebooting and starting the setting up process again to reinstall my preferred apps. Check thoroughly and research your Apps. (try NOT to choose added third party apps, initially). The phone does come with it's own basic apps and therefore you will not lose the original apps that came on your phone, (from what I could see). Be careful with google play store and other app stores as this is where I believe I downloaded the adware, searching testing and trying out for the right Apps. Good judgement helps, familiarity and luck! It can prove frustrating and it did take me a few days of trial and error in setting up my phone, in some ways it allows you the time to become familiar with your new phone and therefore this helps you to eventually set up your phone to the way you want it. I must warn those that are not so tech-savvy to seek some help from someone that is, as it may be required some experience, if not, at least it will allow you the time to plod through the learning curve like me. You should be able to receive and make calls as normal during this process of discovery and once familiar with the functionality of your new phone it should hopefully, become plain sailing...
Caution: When charging, I did drop my 'rugged' phone onto my tower computer by accident, thought nothing of it until I saw some slight damage on the phone, (I did say 'Oh dear, what a bother' as one does.... it caused a small dent under the on/off fingerprint button on the side, within the metal, what can I say, tight lipped, that is life! So, lesson learnt, don't have accidents, abuse it or take it for granted, when it comes to checking out the toughness of your phone, I will no doubt, be getting a leather type case for mine at some point in time as an added feature, some things can be beyond our control.
Over all, there are better phone specs out there but this isn't a bad phone compared to market leaders and you may even be put off from this review. Don't be! Oukitel is quickly becoming a market leader. The problems are normal with any new mobile phones, any model, any make. I was drawn to this particular phone as I liked this one, the looks and when all set up, the functionality, the price is much cheaper than the, up until now; other market mainstream leaders phones.
One must also ask, what do the market leader phones really offerthe customer today? In terms of benefits and functionality compared to the Oukitel WP60 or any other cheaper make? One can only say, nothing really, they have only shown me that manufacturers incorporate a 'time kill switch', for the battery or programming, they are three and four times overpriced and their customer services can be questionable. Commercially aiming for persistent recycled of customers and profiting from them.
So far, I am pleased with this purchase of the Oukitel WP60, now that I am familiar with it, it's big, my network reception has improved greatly, I can receive incoming and provide outgoing calls, functions can be seen clearly, (even for those with failing eyesight if that is a familiar experience to you). I can add appropriate researched Apps that once found; are functional and appropriate to my needs and the price has proven acceptable at the time of purchase.
Since I do live on a shoestring, I am now having to cook beans on toast or have chip butties to pay for this phone, especially in this economic climate and political mismanagement.
