Meteorite, Martian
Name: Iron (II A) Meteorite
Location: Bennett County, South Dakota
Date: 2007
Caption:
This meteorite was found in 1934. It is classified as a Hexahedrite and lacks a Widmanstatten structure. The fine striations are called Neumann bands and due to the impact. This meteorite is low in nickel.
Name: Edmonton - Iron (III CD) Meteorite
Location: Metcalfe County, Kentucky
Date: 2007
Caption:
This meteorite was found in 1942.

Name: Canyon Diablo - Iron (I AB) Meteorite
Location: Coconino County, Arizona
Date: 2007
Caption:
This meteorite was found in 1891 and is a small fragment that survived from the impact of the main meteorite.

Name: Sikhote-Alin - Iron (II B) Meteorite
Location: Maritime Territory, Russia
Date: 2007
Caption:
The Sikhote-Alin meteorite fell in 1947 scattering 23,000 kg of fragments across the Siberian forest after it shattered in mid-air.
Name: Wolf Creek - Iron (III AB) Meteorite
Location: Western Australia
Date: 2007

This meteorite was found in 1947
Name: Staunton - Iron (III E) Meteorite
Location: Augusta County, Virginia
Date: 2007
Caption:
This Iron (III E) Meteorite contains a distinctive crystal pattern known as the Widmanstaten structure. It was fashioned over thousands or millions of years in a low gravity environment at an extremely low rate of cooling producing large crystals of nickel-rich and nickel-poor metallic bands. Such a structure is impossible to forge making the identity of this and similar iron meteorites absolute. Laboratories are only able to imitate it on the microscopic scale. This sample has been cut, polished and etched with acid to enhance the view of the Widmanstaten structure.
Name: Elephant Moraine  - Iron (III AB) Meteorite
