William I 'PAXS' Portrait Penny. Silver, 1.38 grams; 19.40 mm. Type Br VIII, A.D. 1083 - 1086? Crowned and diademed facing bust of King William I holding sceptre and wearing crown type 1. R. Cross pattee; in each angle, an annulet containing one letter of the word PAXS. EDWINE ON CICEST, Moneyer Edwine at Chichester. S 1257, but with crown type 1; N 848. Very Fine and better with an Extremely Fine portrait.
