If you are in an unfamiliar location, or out in the 'sticks, other equipment may be required if over a one day period. Generally a map, compass/GPS/Smartphone is  useful, especially after a tiring day - it will allow you to at least find your car and it should give you useful co-ordinates for your finds. It is also advisable or a consideration to leave a note at home or tell someone you know well; of your approximate route(s) and/or destination and estimated return time or home arrival. Be Safe!
