If a sentence has been given for the Protection of the Public, this will never be spent and will always be shown on a Basic DBS check

Criminal record checks when you apply for a Teaching role
This can be accessed by the individual for any reason. The Basic DBS Check only provides the basic records such as spent and unspent convictions, cautions, reprimands etc.
This DBS cannot be accessed by a sole individual. An organisation has to apply for the individual to get the Standard DBS check. It covers everything, from the Basic package, along with relevant information from the police.
An enhanced DBS Check also requires an organisation to apply on behalf of an individual. The individual cannot apply for their self. This provides a thorough check on the record of a person and provides all the relevant information.
