08.02.26 - In the last few days the battery charge was non-existent, so again charged up, this time over two days, the Rayhog bottle arrived during this period and I probably wasted the content, as the bottle neck was too short and I hadn't realised until the last drop dripped. Where it went, I had no idea. A neighbour did point out I left a trail when I pulled out of the driveway. The question is.....did the content go into the tank or into some overflow reservoir and deposited itself on the road? Well I will see if the cats were cleaned on the way to the MOT next week...
09.02.26 - And it's another day. Up to the MOT shop with my old MOT documents, tried ringing through, no answer, this seems to be usual, in a busy shop, so it was a trip to find out if they can fit me in. On arrival it was just the boss, short staffed for one reason or another, holidays, sickness... but he managed to fit me in; give or take an hour or so wait. This I didn't mind, for a short notice. After a certain amount of time the trusty Z3 Managed to get a PASS, with great relief, so some anxiety had disappeared and in was a happy appreciative face. With this obstacle gone, (for another twelve months), it just leaves what is amounting towards the car owner; the 2026 horizon with a bad government, corrupt politicians and whether they will ruin everyone's life further; by adding further destructive policies and restrictions to driving and drivers in general and not forgetting those aged 50+. This, unfortunately will most likely be my last short year, well up until April at least.... New MOT rules, new Highway Code Rules, New Age Rules, New Car Tax Rules, New Eye Sight Rules, increase in fuel costs and maintenance, For those without a car and reached a certain age they too have been hit, as they cannot get a free bus pass or are limited to the use and this leaves them isolated without transport, unless they have any dwindling savings, that has also been hit, the list is endless and makes me angry with opportunist career privileged politicians that just do not understand how business works.
08.04.26 - Looking back over the past month, it’s hard not to notice how government policies seem to be getting worse rather than better. Using a car has become increasingly unrealistic — petrol prices, fuel shortages, road tax hikes, and soaring maintenance costs have pushed motoring far beyond what most people would consider normal. My own car now sits in the garage and may never see the road again. Even changes to driving licences for those aged 70 and over add another layer of uncertainty. I’m not there yet, but the effect is the same: it undermines confidence for anyone who relies on their vehicle to socialise in retirement, get groceries (if they can afford them), travel to work, or deal with emergencies. And with today’s unreliable ambulance and GP response times, a car is often the only lifeline people have. The question that keeps coming back to me is this: are these policies simply a way to refill the coffers drained during the Covid lockdowns? It feels like self‑serving manipulation, regardless of who gets hurt. Meanwhile, taxpayers are expected to shoulder the burden of immigration programmes, welfare systems, foreign conflicts, and various left‑wing initiatives that seem poorly planned and detached from real‑world consequences.
What began as a diary about a hobby has turned into a documentary — a record of political decline, collapsing infrastructure, and an economy strained by career politicians who appear more interested in protecting themselves than serving the country. It’s frustrating, especially when it feels like these decisions are pushing us toward civil conflict. Are they blind to the consequences, or is this exactly what they intend? And if so, who benefits?
Perhaps it’s time to examine the foreign policies, contracts, and decisions made over the past three decades to understand who sold their integrity — and what they gained in return.
08.04.26 - WOW! Just purchased a replacement mobile an Oukitel WP60 Android, The old one was an Apple7+ (IOS) And Apple decided to stop updating the O/S on it, and then told me to buy the new latest phone via a message. So I did, not theirs. It seems, the Apple phone I have was partially broken in some way, my first clue was the battery, it gave me the impression that it was fully charged, it lasted a day if I was lucky. (The kill switch no doubt had kicked in!) At their prices as the new mainstream phones go, (I have had a number of their phones in the past and the cost seriously mounts up over the years) they have lost my custom. It was Ok; when it wasn't reducing or cancelling calls to reserve power. I didn't replace it because one expects them to last, how wrong I was, they probably do, however; they drop the support and one is 'stuffed'. It did give the impression that it worked, for the past nine years and seven months... sort of. It seemed on average and talking to others, two to three years is the around-about life cycle, (of the battery at least), so I should consider myself luckier than most. I can't see the point of paying out near or over a thousand pounds for something that will only last 2 years that is just downright the 'brass neck' of the manufacturer and their greed. I could occasionally make calls out, (to a fashion, I put it down to the reception in my local area, it is now obvious to me now that it wasn't).
My new phone has turned the concept in terms of reception upside-down, I don't have an extensive friend list as many that know me know, (in this last decade I prefer solitude most of the time, life is more peaceful that way). Well! Most of the time. it surprised me how many people came out of the woodwork once my new phone was activated and configured, weird how that works....they found me. Who'd guess? I am still on my original number and it has re-opened my contact list, (not sure if that is good or bad thing), worth monitoring. If anyone is interested in the new spec of the Oukitel; as one or two have suggested they were looking at this particular manufacturer, the link is above. I like it, nice phone for the price, it is categorised as 'Rugged', can't lose it, it is built like a brick and weighs just as as much, cool.....awkward for those opportunists on scooters
