update:the RCA will have to be replaced on this fit as RCA pin had broken off 07.24
View the rear of the vehicle. Red tail wire is connected to the blue pos. (Radio end Harness) this was used as a trigger wire, as it was the only one available for me at the time of install. The red tail on the yellow RCA at the boot/trunk end is connected to the reverse light wiring. 1st Note: Reverse Bulbs are LED, (very bright). You may not want to connect the camera LED function. (Red and Back wire lead).
Inverted or Flipped Images 2nd Note: You may find you have a flipped image, make sure the connections are 'good'. (sometimes this will flip the image if the wires are loose). If you have green and white wires as loops on your lead - you are in luck! White= Coloured parking Grid, (cut if want on display) Green=Flips the screen. (Cut wire if you want the screen to flip) My particular reverse cam does not have these wires unfortunately. If your Media Unit has a menu/settings function try finding the rear camera and alter the settings if you can. Again, mine does not this in the software.
Some Rear cams have a switch on them or a screw adjuster on the back, to change setting from 'MIR (mirror) to NOR', (normal) some may have them on the cam lead, so check this out also. Again, mine does not have the switches. Failing this, you may have to purchase a another rear /reverse parking cam. (Research really helps before buying). Not much is on the internet and this pitfall is not mentioned in the ads, hopefully the newer cams have solved this problem or at least waivered to customers desires; these can be pricey mistake too, however; there are no guarantees, we are talking about 'big tech' greed here. Research: AIon the internet suggests: "Backup cameras are designed to produce a mirror image by horizontally flipping the image. This is because when a camera records, the video is flipped from the perspective of a person facing the camera, so left becomes right and vice versa."
Wikipedia suggests: "The design of a backup camera is distinct from other cameras because the image is horizontally flipped to produce a mirror image. This is necessary because the camera and the driver face opposite directions; without this adjustment, the camera's right would be on the driver's left and vice versa. A mirrored image makes the orientation of the display consistent with the physical mirrors installed on the vehicle. A backup camera typically utilizes a wide-angle or fish-eye lens. Although such lenses may limit the camera's ability to capture distant objects, they allow the camera to see an uninterrupted horizontal path from one rear corner to the other. The camera is typically pointed at a downward angle to view potential obstacles on the ground."
"Backup cameras use dashboard screens that are also used with GPS navigation systems. Inside the vehicle, the display is typically wired to automatically activate when the transmission is set to reverse, showing the backup view on the dashboard screen while the vehicle is in reverse and/or providing grid guidelines to aid the driver."
