1. IRON SPEAR-HEAD 7-9th century - Khazarian Khaganate
Conical socket with wide base, with one nail still preserved inside. Long narrow blade of rhomb section. Evidence of ancient secondary heating, most likely from cremation burial.  L. 13.3" (33.7 cm).
2. IRON SPEAR-HEAD 7-9th century
Conical split socket with wide base. Narrow long blade of rhomb section. Corroded. L. 9.3" (23.5 cm).
3. IRON SPEAR-HEAD 9th century - Khazarian Khaganate
Conical split socket with reinforced ring, with hole for a nail. Narrow long blade of rhomb section.  L. 9.6" (24.5 cm).
4. IRON SPEAR-HEAD 7th-9th century - South-Eastern Europe
Conical split socket with hole for a nail. Narrow long blade with short shoulders, elongated (nearly flat) rhomb section. Part of the wooden shaft is preserved by the corrosion products inside. In this example a small fragment at the base missing, otherwise intact. L. 12.8" (32.5 cm).
5. IRON SPEAR-HEAD 7th-9th century - South-Eastern Europe
Conical socket with reinforced ring. Narrow long blade of elongated (nearly flat) rhomb section.  L. 11.2" (28.4 cm).
6. IRON SPEAR-HEAD 12th-14th century
Conical split socket with wide base, overlapped, with one hole for a nail. Narrow long blade with square section. Fragment at the base missing, otherwise intact.
L. 9.8" (25 cm).
7. VIKING AGE IRON SPEAR-HEAD - 9th-11 century
Narrow conical split socket. Wide rhomboidal blade with elongated (nearly flat) rhomb section. Originally socket was longer, otherwise intact. Part of the grain of the wooden shaft is preserved by the corrosion products inside. Surface covered with resoluble acrylic film.
L. 14" (35.5 cm).
8. VIKING AGE IRON SPEAR-HEAD - 9th-11th century
Narrow conical split socket. Long blade with short shoulders, forming an obtuse angle, lenticular in section. Part of the grain of the wooden shaft is preserved by the corrosion products inside. In this example there is a  fragment at the base missing, otherwise intact.
L. 10.4" (26.3 cm).
9. IRON LANCE 10th-13th century - South-Eastern Europe
Conical socket. Narrow long blade of rhomb section with two notches at the junction with the socket.
