Anglo-Saxon 'Lead' Disc Brooch

Lead, 16.66 grams, 33.35 mm. Circa 10th-11th century AD. An example of a rare type in a good state of preservation, with its catchplate and ring intact. The central motif - a degraded bust - is surrounded by two rings of pellets. Reference: Saxon & Viking Artefacts by Nigel Mills, page 49. Very fine condition. Found Essex.
