Edward VI was King of England and Ireland from 28 January 1547 until his death. He was crowned on 20 February at the age of nine. Edward was the son of Henry VIII and Jane Seymour, and England's first monarch to be raised as a Protestant. During his reign, the realm was governed by a Regency Council because he never reached his majority. The Council was first led by his uncle Edward Seymour, 1st Duke of Somerset, and then by John Dudley, 1st Earl of Warwick, from 1551 Duke of Northumberland.

Not many if any half-groats, (two pence) in this time of research for this period.... comes under the category of 'light coinage' and coins in the name of Henry VIII, via the Bristol mint under Thomas Chamberlain. However higher denominations have been found. Coins from this period do hold their value (at the time of writing 2018).
