Crispus 660-670 AD
Anglo-saxon / Early Medieval Gold coin. The coin is a pale gold thrymsa of 'Crispus' type, in excellent condition albeit slightly clipped. This is a rare coin. Found in Wiltshire.
20mm Obverse description: Helmeted & draped bust right, helmet shown as a crest over corn-rowed hair
Obverse inscription: CBISPV[ ] COBCAES
Reverse description: Crude wreath enclosing a cross on a base, limbs terminating in pellets-in-annulets, two crosses in the lower quarters
Reverse inscription: 'delaiona' CAES (partially runic and retrograde)
