N:
These bottle jacks are always useful and versatile they could possibly be used for  pressing in 'press bearings' via the use of a vice and clamping frame or for the general purpose for their design, lifting vehicles or components such as aiding with  the lifting of gearboxes, exhaust etc. (keeping safety in mind).

I did have a couple of these many years ago and over time one can forget the whereabouts and eventually lose them. Again, a secure storage is important to retain them and over time saves on the pocket.
Could possibly be used for  pressing i.e. 'press bearings' via the use of a vice and clamping frame.
As jacks go, I prefer a 'V' capping plate or a ' I___I' plate  with a deepish cap underneath to attach onto the top 'screw/plunger for more safety,(prevent slipping) however this needs to beable  to withstand the weight of the vehicle  and most likely need to be forged to the correct hardness to beable to withstand the weight. Just a thought for those budding Blacksmiths out there! I am sure there is something out there that meets that description as my old bottle jack use to have one....
