Chapter Six
Words Within A Smile
She captured my mind, a sophistication a mystery,
What could I say, that she could see
Still waters that runs deep within me?
A life that has been torn from the depths of hell!
I, no purpose and no right to be amongst them.
She carries herself with an elegance and thoughtfulness…
To those that flock around her, she is humbled,
She notes a stolen glance and shies away,
Not wanting her thought to portray her…
A child lost in a grown-up world
Lost in an ocean of limelight, a fantasy.
Where she sees the crowd
I see the people projecting their visions…
She has a purpose, I have an existence,
I am a nobody, just a breeze in the air.
And wonder what determines life's road,
Of fame to the down and out…
What formula decides success to not being noticed
Of upheaval to fight for what is right
And for those with success suggesting they have more right,
To dictate to the people, they are privileged…
A mind-set, an authority, a manipulation,
So they sang songs, preached politics
They were noticed, are they any different,
Or does it pay to be forward, perhaps dishonest?
Is this world of corruption with those but a few,
With open eyes within the darkness,
Those like me, that just observes…
Seeking out what is not perceived as artificial beauty…
An act of selflessness, an empathy, a courage
Moving silently within the crowds.
Seeing more of what is false on the surface of a flowing river
That brings a tear to one's eyes.
In bereavement we are selfish, we cry as our loved ones leave us.
Some are angered, as they are left alone, with uncertainty,
Depression, negativity seeks company defining a reality…
The blind, leading the blind forging the world of the majority.
The brook trickles with the sun reflecting, leaves rustling,
We see what is truly humbling a beauty within.
The brook trickles into the still waters run deep
She sees my smile, she smiles back, a second for us is an eternity...
