Soldier Using Desert Hawk 3 a British Army DroneThe Desert Hawk is driven by a pusher quiet propeller and is used for local area reconnaissance and perimeter protection.  Equipped with 3 cameras it transmits real time video to a small laptop. Due to its lightweight design it is capable of rough landings without major damage.

There are currently at least 222 Desert Hawks, the largest collection of British Army drones with over 27,000 hours of combined service in Afghanistan alone.
