Joby Aviation have advanced the flying car concept to the point they performed the first ever electric air taxi flight over New York City in 2023. They are busy working on a timeline for commercial passenger service with their eye-catching S4 eVTOL aircraft. Joby's design allows for a pilot, four passengers and ample room for luggage. The aircraft is touted to have a maximum cruise speed of 200 mph (322 km/h) and a range of 100 miles (161 km). A third production prototype conducted a remotely piloted flight at a Toyota facility in Japan in November 2024.
