This Serbian armed police force is relatively new, having been created in 2001 as a branch of Serbia’s Ministry of Internal Affairs, but now, it consists of a Special Operations Unit and a Special Police Unit. The Serbian Gendarmerie deals with both civilian and military duties with their main objective being to secure the ‘Ground Safety Zone’ and be disaster rescue teams. They also deal with counter-terrorism and putting an end to riots in prisons as well.
